WINWORKS One applies mixed integer programming technique for calculating the best possible work shift plan.

 

The following points can be achieved by using mixed integer programming:

 

(1) Staff assignments that align with demand for service.


(2) Flexibility on the definition, addition, service demand changes, and work hour shift rules.

 

The improvement of the work efficiency is attempted by calculating the work shift plan that reflects demand alternations in the forecasting service. In addition, an optional calculation to suppress work hour within regulated series, and to reduce the ineffectiveness at working hours as much as possible can be delivered.

Rule base

 

It is not only the service demand level that is necessary in the service industry, specific rules should also be consider and applicable. In addition to, fairness and the easiness features, security and safety are also important aspects that must be a part of any solution.

 

In WINWORKS One, the rule actually considered and used on a particular location or at corporate level can be almost defined in the system in the same form as it is applied and used at the site.


The rules have two kinds of conditions:

 

"Necessary condition" that should be filled and "Sufficient condition" that you should fill as much as possible, and doesn't have limitation in the number that can be defined.

 

When the rule is prepared, the wizard form template is generated, and the rule can be easily defined by Multi phase approach

 

One of the weak points of mixed integer programming is that requires extensive computing time in order to calculate among vast shifts combination and set assorted restrictions to produce the duty roster with the best work efficiency.

 

WINWORKS One has a mechanism of shortening a variety of calculation time, and calculates and delivers the best duty roster at a practicable time.

 

Three kinds of main speed-up techniques of WINWORKS One exist as follows.

 

(1) Model compression

 

(2) Model partitioning

 

(3) Optimization phase division

 

The Winworks generically calls these techniques, Multi Phased Optimization.
